From October 2 to 5, the summer season final of the Student Rowing League took place at the Rowing Canal in Krylatskoye. This is the main autumn start for student rowers: over four days, the strongest university teams in the country competed for medals in six boat classes.
I shot the final days of the competition. The weather was changeable, but the racing on the water was fierce. The finals brought together crews from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Veliky Novgorod, Nizhny Novgorod, Krasnodar, and Saratov.
Among the winners and medalists were teams from leading universities. In the women’s double sculls, gold went to Aylina Kilsinbayeva and Maria Koroleva (Gubkin University). In the men’s double sculls, Nikita Ivanovsky and Vladislav Makarov (NovSU) were the best. In the women’s coxless four, the crew from VLGAFC and HSE won, while in the men’s coxless four, the HSE team took first place.
Student rowing is a special level: young, hungry for victory athletes who in a year or two can grow into national team members.
